EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DENTAL EMERGENCIES

When you have a dental problem, your dentist should be the first person you call. What happens if you have a dental problem and it is in the middle of the night or a holiday? In these cases, you will need to call your dentist and arrange an emergency dental visit. Your dentist may even instruct you to go to the emergency room at the hospital.



How Do I Know If I Have a Dental Emergency?

Not every dental problem that occurs outside of normal office hours is always an emergency. Sure, toothaches, pains, and other issues arise. Yet, these may be able to temporarily be treated at home until you can see your dentist the following day.

To determine if you have a dental emergency ask yourself the following:
Can I live with the pain and discomfort, or is it too severe?
Did you lose a tooth or teeth from another type of accident?
Are your gums sore, swollen, bleeding, or showing signs of infection?
Do you have difficulties eating, drinking, and swallowing?
Are your gums or teeth bleeding and will not stop?
